A whirling psychrometer is a device used to measure the relative humidity of the air. It consists of two thermometers: a dry-bulb thermometer and a wet-bulb thermometer. The dry-bulb thermometer measures the ambient air temperature, while the wet-bulb thermometer measures the temperature of a wetted wick as air passes over it. Here's how a whirling psychrometer works: Wet the wick of the wet-bulb thermometer with distilled water. Attach the dry-bulb and wet-bulb thermometers side by side on a handle or a frame. In big ponds and aquariums the increased metabolism due to high fish populations often leads to increased water pollution. For this reason Aquaclay F-4-10 was developed. Aquaclay F-4-10 should ideally be put in the provided filter medium bags. Aquaclay F-4-10 should be washed under warm, running water before filling the filter. During the first filling of the filter the bacteria need approximately 2-4 weeks to reach about 70% of the filtration performance. After 4-6 weeks nearly 100% of the filtration performance is accomplished. The colonization time can be reduced by using bacterial cultures (bacteria starter). Aqua clay balls are designed as a hydroponic medium. They allow for great root penetration and aeration. One of the most popular hydroponic mediums, Canna Clay Balls are the perfect medium for use in hydroponic wicks and pots.
