The UV Radiation chamber is made with SS 316 L with electro-polish which is corrosion-resistant, particularly against chlorides and other industrial solvents. Either end of the chamber can be used as the inlet or outlet; both are directed horizontally upwards to ensure that the pressure maintained in the chamber doesn’t exceed the maximum avoiding any chances of breakage in the UV lamps. The control panel mounted on the UV Ballast has LED indicators for each lamp to notify lamp failure and it also has an hour meter to keep a check on the remaining life of the lamp. The filter is unremarkably dug in at the edge of the pond. The compact way of construction makes the pond technology almost completely disappear. It takes about 4–6 weeks for the filter bacteria to settle sufficiently inside the pond filter. Only then it is reasonable to make use of a UVC-pond clarifier. The so-called initial "starter bacteria" help to reduce the time for a new pond filter to start its operation. For this purpose this kind of bacteria (microorganisms) is grown in laboratories. Bacteria start being active at a temperature of approx. 10–12°C. The pond filter´s temperature should not exceed 40 °C. It is therefore advisable to place the pond filter in the shadow. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Moreover, you should take into account the pond´s circulation cycle as well as the period of time of the pond water in the pond filter. According to the type of usage, the ideal circulation cycle depends on different factors: the fish population, aquatic plants, the quantity of sunlight or the desired water clarity. It goes without saying that, as the case may be, there are further components of the filter circuit that are to be coordinated, if necessary. The following information may serve you as a guideline: Koi pond / Fish pond: • 1 cycle per 3 hours • 2 circulations in 1 hour (without plantings and with large fish population) Garden pond / Plant pond: Regarding a pond without fish, there is less circulation necessary.
