In big ponds and aquariums the increased metabolism due to high fish populations often leads to increased water pollution. For this reason Aquaclay F-4-10 was developed. Aquaclay F-4-10 should ideally be put in the provided filter medium bags. Aquaclay F-4-10 should be washed under warm, running water before filling the filter. During the first filling of the filter the bacteria need approximately 2-4 weeks to reach about 70% of the filtration performance. After 4-6 weeks nearly 100% of the filtration performance is accomplished. The colonization time can be reduced by using bacterial cultures (bacteria starter). Aqua clay balls are designed as a hydroponic medium. They allow for great root penetration and aeration. One of the most popular hydroponic mediums, Canna Clay Balls are the perfect medium for use in hydroponic wicks and pots. Clay Balls are also great for using in the base of a pot, when growing in soil or coco, as they provide excellent drainage and aeration. Cleaning and maintenance: The water can be pumped to a higher lying waterfall and then led back into the pond. The annual maintenance is limited to checking the filter media and the UV-lamp. The filter has a modern flush back function that can be adjusted by means of a switch with four functions. With the switch you have the following possibilities for setting: The EasyClean flush back function: • Switch position "Filter" Normal operation - the water passes through the pressure pond filter with the help of a pond pump and returns cleanly into the pond. • Switch position "Clean" Cleaning mode - By turning the switch the motor that is integrated in the top of the filter is switched on and makes the filter sponges rotate in the inner of the pond filter and cleans them from the coarse dirt without opening the pond filter. During the cleaning operation the dirty water is drained by an additional connection and can be used for example for garden irrigation. Filter Placement: The filter is placed at the pond side and by means of a a suitable pump (not included in delivery) connected with the water. The water circulates through the filter and the UV-device and after being cleaned is led again into the pond. Fundamental Functionality: Pond filter combine the mechanical and biological cleaning. Microorganisms settle on the filter material and remove germs and bacteria from the water. By mechanical filtering, suspended particles and dirt remain in the pond filter and by this means no longer return to the pond water. It takes about 4-6 weeks, until Filter Bacteria have sufficiently colonized the bio pond filter. Only thereafter t is advisable to switch on a UVC Pond Clarifier. Starter bacteria help to shorten the start-up phase of a new filter. Starter bacteria refer to microorganisms especially grown in a laboratory. By adding them, you can shorten the start-up phase considerably. Bacteria are active above a temperature of approximately 10°-12°C, the pond filter´s temperature should exceed 40°C. So the pond filter should be placed in the shadow and not be exposed to direct sunlight. UVC-pond clarifiers irradiate the water in a flow-through reactor with UV rays. The UV-C radiation destroys the swimming algae. The algae agglutinate to large particles and ca be easily removed by means of mechanical filtering. Our UVC clarifiers modify the tertiary and the quaternary structure of the algae proteins by means of UV-radiation. This means the destructions of the algae which can be removed from the water by pond filters.
