The SunSun CUF-5800 pond pump with 5, 800 l/h at 55 watts is a real all-rounder. It offers everything you require to keep your pond clean and is a pond pump, fountain, filter and UVC clarifier in one. The integrated pond pump ensures continuous and reliable water circulation. The attachments included in the delivery allow it to be used as a pond and fountain pump. In addition, a filter sponge and several filtering stages ensure a biologically optimal cleaning of the pond water. Filter Media Filter cotton wool, fleece and sponges: Filter media such as cotton wool, fleece or sponges are an important part of modern aquatics. Cotton wool allows coarse dirt particles to be absorbed, sponges reduce nitrate, clean the water of chemical impurities and offer optimum conditions for the colonisation of filter bacteria. Bio Balls: Bio Balls are used in aquatics as mechanical as well as biological filter media. They offer bacteria a large surface for colonisation and are considered to be high-performance fillers, especially in large filter systems. In contrast to many other filter media, Bio Balls also offer a practically unlimited service life, which makes them a popular, inexpensive medium, especially in pond filter systems, trickle and chamber filters. A built-in 11 watts UVC pond clarifier is also part of this compact system. The purified water can be returned via the supplied fountain or via a hose. Why this system? The UVC radiation kills harmful algae, bacteria and germs. Thus algae formation remains under control. The UVC device ensures clear pond water - normally - within 14 days. UVC pond clarifiers irradiate the pond water with UVC radiation in a flow-through reactor. This radiation changes the tertiary and quaternary structures of algae proteins. The algae clumps together to form larger particles and can easily be removed from the water cycle by the pond filter. The lifetime of the UVC lamp is between 7, 000 and 10, 000 operating hours. We therefore recommend changing the lamp of the UVC unit at the annual start of the season when the water temperature in the pond rises, to clean the quartz glass of the UV lamp at that point. The water circulates through the UVC steriliser, where all impurities such as floating algae, pathogens, bacteria or parasites are reduced. The longer the water is in contact with the UVC radiation and the higher the UVC output (watts) is, the more effective the water can be cleared. If there is a reason to assume an increased germ culmination and all other possibilities of removal have been exhausted, the permanent use of a UVC clarifier to reduce the germ amount is highly recommended. UV lamps are used to clarify pond water. Does the pump capacity match the pond? The output rate of the pond pump must be matched to the size of the pond filter. If the output rate of the pond pump is too high, the pond filter will overflow, which should be avoided by all means. In any case, the circulation cycle of the pond and the retention time of the water in the filter should also be taken into account.
